Doka Featured 32: Paulus Ponizak

“I am always intrigued by strong characters in a combination of strong light and deep shadows, trying to isolate my subject in its environment. Also, mirrors and other reflections attract my attention. To combine all these elements into one single frame, this is my everyday pleasure.“⠀

Paulus Ponizak, aka @iso.null30, is a staff photographer for a German publishing house and is currently based in Berlin, Germany. He is specialized in portraiture and editorial photography. ⠀

One of his passions is to document life in public places. He has been doing this, since the onset of his career, when he was a staff photographer for the news agency, Associated Press (AP). ⠀

At the beginning of the nineties, he had the amazing opportunity to capture history in the making: the end of the Cold War, West, and East Germany reunited and also covered stories in countries like the Balkans or South Africa. He is also a Founding Member of the photographic group @interCollective.⠀

Doka Featured is a series initiated by Doka. Doka features emerging photographers via weekly takeovers on our Instagram profile. At the end of the year an exclusive selection of prints will be selected which will be availabe in a limited edition.
