On the other side

Post industrial ruins and ancient courtyards, naked brick walls bearing peeling paint and rusted scenery, are all part of the decay and ruin that have become photographer Tomasz Aulich’s playground.

It screams unconventional opportunities and Tomasz does not fail to draw out the feeling of the forgotten corners of the industrial city of Łódź, Poland.

While focusing on locations that are no longer inhabited, he tells stories about those that had lived there before.

A city is much more than just a collection of buildings and streets, rather it is built on its inhabitants. Their behaviour, norms and how they communicate with their surroundings forms it’s urban body.

Those living there determine the essence of their own existence. Meet the citizens of the industrial Polish city of Łódź.
